Kicking it up

After last weeks mini presentation and what we plan to do from here.

We don't have much time left, and that's scary thought for the team; so we have been discussing how we can really push ourselves to get the level finished and to the standard that we wanted from the beginning.
We regrettably have had some delays in building the level in engine due to a terrain not being completed and the map layout not being fleshed out to work from, but after having to talk to the class about what we have had completed so far we all quickly realised that something needs to change.

We've got a level now!

So that was a very exciting step for us as we can now finally see everything together as a whole, rather than various assets scattered throughout dropbox.
We have also started assigning mini teams to get things done quicker and more efficiently. So we now have the 'Tavern Crew' and the 'Fill em' Up' teams.

The Tavern Crew is in charge of getting the tavern completed over the next week as we now what that to be our main selling point for our level. The team is made up of Shayleen (tavern team leader), George and Jamie; the tavern now has its own design document full of references for the group to work from so we all create a concise environment together. Our deadline is to have this completed by this time next week.

The Fill em' Up team is in charge of creating the outer filling assets so we can flesh out our surrounding areas and make them feel full of life! But at night, they become the Cry-engine team and are making sure the lighting, sound effects, fog and overall map layout looks as good as it possibly can.

So overall we have our team accomplishments as well as our personal milestones to reach within the week.

Ewa  -  Particle effects for fire, flies and the Carriage, terrain textures.
Anna -  Sound effects (dogs, seagulls, people talking, crowds), low poly ship.
Shayleen  -  Tavern design doc, Have the assets already made for the tavern unwrapped, trees.
Mike  -  Shop fronts, stall, dynamic lighting, factory to be finished asap!
Jamie  -  Shop fronts to be textured, boats to be fixed, cellar door, floor texture for the tavern.
George -  Bear head, the horse station (with bay bales), to help with any textures for the Tavern.

So hopefully by the beginning of next week we will have a walk through video of the level to show you a real visual update of where we are now.
